Juvenile rat snakes were getting into a garage and a newly encapsulated crawlspace in Conover. The inspection found them pushing up through a liner seam at a deck corner, plus mice on the homeowner's glue boards, which explained why the snakes were there. The two active entry areas were sealed on site and the owner received a photo report the same day. Rat snakes are not venomous and they are the reason there were fewer mice; the fix is closing the openings and removing what draws the mice in.
A Lenoir homeowner kept finding droppings under one shutter. A daytime check found the shutter gapped enough for bats to roost behind it, and every other shutter on the house had the same gap. One-way devices went on the active spots so anything inside could leave and not return, the shutter was sealed, and a return trip removed the devices once the roost was empty. Bat work in North Carolina is timed around the summer maternity season, so this job went in right after the exclusion window reopened.
